Here’s our first look at the Jaguar E-PACE SUV

Jaguar has revealed the first image and details of its second-ever production SUV, called the E-PACE.

The Jaguar E-PACE, a new compact SUV which will sit below the F-PACE, has been partially revealed in production form for the first time. A new image released online shows part of the SUV’s rear.

A full public reveal of the new E-PACE will take place on 13 July. Following the successful launch last year of its F-PACE, Jaguar’s first production SUV, the British brand is keen to quickly expand its SUV portfolio and a more compact entry is next.

The E-PACE will rival the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA. Jaguar says that its E-PACE will feature sports car-derived all-wheel drive technology and an all-Ingenium line-up of petrol and diesel engines.

Jaguar has also revealed that pricing for the E-PACE in the UK is expected to start from approximately £28,500.

Sharing the same platform with the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport, the E-PACE will reportedly be offered with front-wheel drive as standard and a choice of six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic gearboxes.

Engines are likely to include 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel units with outputs ranging from 161bhp to 247bhp. The E-PACE could also debut an all-new mild-hybrid powertrain from Jaguar which would combine a 1.5-litre Ingenium diesel unit with a battery-powered electric motor.

As well as launching the new E-PACE in the not-too-distant future, Jaguar is also set to launch a fully-electric SUV called the I-PACE sometime during 2018.
