Longing for the North American-only Ford F-150 Raptor, but don’t want to spend near £100k importing one? Well, you could be in luck.

Introducing the Ford Ranger Raptor — the latest high-performance truck to come from the American manufacturer.

Based on the UK’s best-selling pick-up truck, the Ranger Raptor features all sorts of gubbins to distinguish it as the ultimate version of the vehicle. It’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel engine, producing 207bhp and 500Nm of torque, which is sent to all four wheels via a ten-speed automatic gearbox.

Complementing the performance boost a host of visual upgrades to distinguish this as a Raptor — including beefy 33-inch tyres, raised ground clearance, a rugged body kit and a large Ford front grille, finished off with a Raptor decal alongside the bed of the pick-up.

Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer at Ford Performance said:

"We are so excited and proud to unleash this vehicle to the public, driving it really makes you feel like a hero.

"The Ford Performance team is excited to extend the Raptor name from our flagship off-road performance F-150 to Ranger.

"Just like the F-150 Raptor, the Ranger Raptor builds upon the core capability of the range of vehicles it comes from and carries the unmistakable Ford Performance DNA appearance."

Before you go rushing off to your nearest Ford dealer, for now the Ranger Raptor is only confirmed for Australia and some Asian markets. With it being built in right-hand-drive, though, along with rumours of Ford execs pushing for a UK arrival, we could yet see it on British shores soon.
