Honda’s all-electric ‘e’ can now be reserved

Reservations for the firm’s quirky all-electric model are now open.

Honda has announced that its eagerly anticipated ‘e’ electric car is now available to reserve, with the UK being one of the first markets to be offered its all-electric model in Europe.

Along with Germany, France and Norway, buyers wishing to get their hands on the new ‘e’ can place a reservation on Honda’s website, with a fully-refundable £800 fee securing ‘priority status’ for customers.

Official order books will open later in the year, with first deliveries expected in Spring 2020. Honda is yet to announce prices for its new ‘e’, although a figure in the region of £30,000 is expected.

This announcement follows on from the confirmation of the ‘e’ name for the model a few weeks ago, which originally started out in life as the 2017 Urban EV Concept.

Across Europe, Honda has said it has had 25,000 registrations of interest for the model already – showcasing how much buyers have fallen for the new EV’s distinctive looks. Approximately 6,000 of those have come from UK customers.

Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, said: “The official naming and the opening of the reservation process is the next step in the Honda e journey and the path to 100 per cent electrification of Honda’s model range in Europe by 2025.

“UK customers are leading the charge by being among the first in Europe to reserve their priority status to order the Honda e.”

The new online system also reveals more about the colours of the ‘e’, with shades such as Platinum White, Crystal Black, Crystal Blue, Modern Steel and ultra-bright Charge Yellow available.

The new ‘e’ is seen as Honda’s first major step with electrification, with the city-aimed model offering a bold design and modern interior, with Honda also claiming that it will fun to drive thanks to its rear-wheel-drive platform. A range of over 125 miles is also expected.
