Jaguar Land Rover gives military charity two F-Types

JLR has given Mission Motorsport two examples of the sports car that will be used to help wounded, injured and sick veterans in their recovery.

To continue its commitment to helping veterans and members of the Armed Forces, Jaguar Land Rover has donated two F-Types to the Mission Motorsport military charity.

After the manufacturer and charity started a partnership back in 2014, JLR established the Armed Forces Engagement Programme, which included a training scheme for wounded, injured and sick (WIS) veterans to gain skills to work in the production of vehicles.

Since then, 45 WIS personnel have been through the programme and 29 have gone on to join Jaguar Land Rover, with six joining partner organisations.

Both the F-Types will be used to support the therapy of ex-service personnel who have been affected by their time in the military.

Workers at the Castle Bromwich plant were joined by WIS employees and Mission Motorsport ambassadors to help build the 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 5.0-litre V8 SVR models that will be used – which come with a distinctive livery.

James Cameron, Mission Motorsport chief executive officer, said: “This has been an incredible gesture by Jaguar Land Rover and an extraordinary commitment to reinforce our hard work in support of those leaving the armed services.

“It is our responsibility now to harness the excitement that these cars create to help inspire those who have so much to offer. We are very grateful indeed for this transformational gift.”

Rob Lummis, Jaguar Land Rover head of employee experiences, said: “These two cars will make an immeasurable difference to the Mission Motorsport team, enabling them to reach even more veterans who don’t know what the future holds after their discharge from the military.

“At Jaguar Land Rover we have seen the benefits a programme like this can have in awakening new horizons, ambitions and careers. We look forward to seeing the next set of beneficiaries begin their new future with us.”
