Jeep celebrates 80th birthday with new special editions

Unique Renegade and Wrangler versions are being created to mark the occasion

Legendary 4x4 manufacturer Jeep is marking its 80th anniversary with the launch of new special-edition models.

The firm dates back to 1941 when the Willys Jeep arrived, and cues from that model continue to be included in the firm’s cars to this day – including the slotted grille and round headlights – and is now introducing new 80th Anniversary editions of its Renegade crossover and unstoppable Wrangler off-roader.

Beginning with the special new Renegade, which comes with new grey accents,18-inch alloy wheels and a full suite of LED lighting. Inside, it brings with black leather seats with contrast stitching and special anniversary branding, along with matching floor mats and a black headlining.

A choice of a 118bhp 1.0-litre petrol and a 148bhp 1.3-lite petrol engine are available with the Renegade.

Next up is the Wrangler, which is undoubtedly the most iconic of all of Jeep’s modern cars. It gains much of the features on the Renegade – including the grey accents and black leather seats - but also features a special plaque on the rear swing tailgate, along with two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Wrangler’s engine is a 268bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine, which also features Jeep’s advanced four-wheel-drive system for maximum off-roading ability.

The American manufacturer has also announced a new initiative called ‘Jeep Wave’ to mark the occasion. Benefits include three years free servicing and roadside assistance, along with a special new call centre. Owners will also be given early access to events and promotions.

Prices for the new 80th anniversary editions have yet to be announced, though Jeep has said the models will be available to order from the spring.
