Kia announces pricing for revised Optima range

Available as both a saloon and a ‘Sportswagon’ estate, the refreshed Optima comes with an altered design and new safety features.

South Korean manufacturer Kia has revealed pricing and specification details for the refreshed Optima range.

Both feature an altered exterior design including a new front bumper, a chrome finish on the brand’s ‘tiger-nose’ grille and new head, fog and taillights.

The interior has also been revised, with a new steering wheel and satin chrome trim fitted to both models, with the centrepiece either a seven- or eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display that has satellite navigation and can run both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A 360-degree around view monitor can be also fitted, as well as a Harmon Kardon sound system, a wireless smartphone charging pad and leather upholstery.

Under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 134bhp and 320Nm of torque, with customers given the option of either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission or a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 241bhp and is exclusive to the Sportswagon GT.

With the 1.6-litre diesel, drivers can expect to return over 60mpg with either transmission fitted.

Available in three trims – 2, 3 and GT-Line – the Sportswagon is also available with an exclusive GT trim that includes sporty styling. The Saloon is only available with grades 2 and 3.

Kia also fits the Optima with the brand’s latest safety systems, including driver attention warning, forward collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, high beam assist and LED headlights.

Prices for the Optima saloon start from £22,260, while the Sportswagon has a starting point of £23,100. Both models are on sale now.
