Kia to introduce new SUV concept

Kia is set to use the limelight of the 2016 North American International Auto Show to showcase a new SUV concept next week.

The 2016 North American International Auto Show, which is taking place in Detroit (and therefore also known as simply the Detroit Motor Show), gives manufacturers a forum to show off its latest ideas and designs.

Kia’s new SUV concept, constructed at the brand’s California design studio, is said to “suggest styling of a possible future premium large SUV” – according to the manufacturer. It is also said to include including state-of-the-art health-and-wellness technology.

From an aesthetic point of view, Kia’s new SUV concept seems to merge the rather boxy shape of its small Kia Soul MPV with design cues of large SUV’s on the market like the Volvo XC90.

Currently, no plans for the new concept to reach production have been confirmed. However, if it was to reach production then it would likely occupy a gap above the Sportage and below the Sorento in Kia’s range.
