Kia has revealed the latest version of its all-electric crossover – the Soul EV.
The Soul EV is fitted with a 64kWh liquid-cooled, lithium-ion battery pack for ‘improved range’ that means less frequent charging. It also comes with a fast-charging system for shorter stops at charging points.
Although the official range hasn’t been revealed, Kia will be releasing details on that in 2019 following further testing.
The electric motor develops 201bhp and 395Nm of torque, and owners will be able to choose from four driving modes while on the go – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Eco+ – that adjust the power output and level of regenerative braking.
The driver can also manually adjust regenerative braking system with paddles on the steering wheel, ranging from marginal braking up to the ‘Brake & Hold’ setting, which means the car harvests energy while slowing down.

Smart regenerative braking is also employed, which uses the vehicle in front or steep hills to slow down appropriately.
The Soul EV comes with unique features compared to the standard model, such as smoother front and rear bumpers, LED headlights and bespoke 17-inch alloy wheels.
It also comes with a series of safety assists, such as forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, driver attention alert, blind spot collision warning and rear cross traffic collision warning. Smart cruise control and reverse parking distance warning are also available.
The cabin comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, six-speaker sound system and a multifunction steering wheel.
Pricing and specifications will be announced closer to the car’s sale date, which is expected to be in the first half of 2019.
