British manufacturer Land Rover has taken the covers off “the world’s first full-size luxury SUV coupé” – called the Range Rover SV Coupé.
Based on the latest version of the Range Rover luxury SUV, the SV Coupé was designed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) and comes with just two side doors and a sporty sloping roof.
Each of the 999 units will be hand-built by the SVO team, with every example costing a staggering £240,000.
As with every other SVO vehicle, the SV Coupé comes with a powerful engine under the bonnet – and in this case, it is a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that kicks out 557bhp and 700Nm of torque.
All of that power is transferred through all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, meaning the SV Coupé can go from 0-60mph in five seconds flat and on to a top speed of 165mph – making it the fastest Range Rover ever built.
Want to take your luxury coupe SUV off-road? Well you can, as the SV Coupé comes with all the neat off-track features you get with every other Range Rover. A 90cm wading depth and Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system both come as standard.
Although many of the elements remain from the base Range Rover, the SV Coupé is 8cm lower than the standard model, has a steeper roofline and includes frameless power-close doors that fit seamlessly into the shell. For the first time, 23-inch alloy wheels will also be offered on a Range Rover model.
There will be more than 100 body colour options and multiple dual-tone interior upholstery combinations for the quilted leather seats for each customer to choose from.
Land Rover’s chief design officer, Gerry McGovern, said: “The Range Rover SV Coupé is a celebration of the Range Rover bloodline. With a dramatic two-door silhouette, this breathtaking four-seat coupé alludes to its unique heritage while being thoroughly modern and contemporary.”
The SV Coupé made its public debut on the first press day at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the new model will begin in the final quarter of 2018.
