Maserati GranTurismo updated for 2018

Maserati has updated its GranTurismo coupe for 2018 with new styling, new technology but also one less engine than before.

Maserati has refreshed its GranTurismo sports car for 2018 with a streamlined range and some design updates for both the exterior and interior.

The Maserati GranTurismo has been on sale since 2007 and the coupe hasn’t really changed that much since its debut, until now that is.

One of the biggest changes that comes as part of the facelift is the fact that the entry-level 4.2-litre petrol engine has been dropped. That means just one engine is available, the more potent 4.7-litre naturally-aspirated petrol V8.

Consequently, the GranTurismo range now comprises of only the Sport and Stradale versions, meaning the starting price will be rise, although the exact figure has yet to be confirmed.

The 4.7-litre V8, which is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive powertrain, produces 454bhp and peak torque of 520Nm. This leads to a 0-62mph sprint time of just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 186mph.

Styling updates for the GranTurismo’s exterior include a new ‘sharknose’ style hexagonal grille, repositioned air ducts and a new and more aerodynamic rear bumper.

Inside, the GranTurismo’s interior gets a new infotainment system featuring an 8.4-inch touchscreen display and this is offered alongside a new Harman Kardon sound system. The infotainment device supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The centre console also gets a mild redesign with a new switchgear, an aluminium double rotary control knob and repositioned driving mode buttons that are nearer the gear lever now.

The refreshed Maserati GranTurismo can be seen by the UK public at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Pricing for the 2018 Maserati GranTurismo range is likely to start from about £95,000.
