Meet BMW's M760Li xDrive V12, the M-engineered 7 Series

Hot on the heels of the new 600bhp Alpina-tuned B7, BMW has released its own range-topping version of the 7 Series, and this one’s got a V12.

Matching ultra-luxury with high performance, the M760Li xDrive V12’s 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged engine generates an eye-popping 592bhp with an absolutely insane 800Nm of torque.

Combined with BMW’s eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and xDrive four-wheel drive, the M760 is capable of doing 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds, with an electronically-limited 155mph top speed.

Buyers can also specify the optional M Driver’s Package, which raises the speed limit to 189mph, and also features a retuned gearbox that can deliver snappier gear changes and quicker downshifts.

Riding on exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels engineered by BMW’s M performance wing, the M760 also features the innovative Executive Drive Pro suspension system and active roll stabilisation to minimise unwanted body movement.

Stopping power comes courtesy of huge 19-inch M Sport brakes with blue callipers, while the car also gains an M sports exhaust system to get the best possible sound from those 12 cylinders.

Other M Performance exterior upgrades include a galvanised grey finish for the kidney grille frame, front apron strip and door handles, plus colour accented mirror caps and door trim elements.

Inside, the car’s all 7 Series, with Nappa leather upholstery and deep-pile floor mats, along with M-exclusive features, active cruise control and BMW’s iDrive system with gesture control.

Customers who want all the power but without the M division’s overtly sporty appearance can also opt for the BMW M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence model for no extra cost.

Featuring the same powertrain as the M760, it sheds the M aerodynamic kit in favour of a more mature, toned-down appearance and a more family-friendly exhaust system.

Prices for the new BMW M760Li xDrive V12 have yet to be announced, but given the model’s position at the pinnacle of the 7 Series range, it’s unlikely to come cheap.
