Mercedes-AMG unveils limited edition GT R Pro

The motorsport-inspired model comes with improved aerodynamics, lighter bodywork and new suspension components.

Mercedes-AMG has shown off its limited edition GT R Pro for the first time at the 2018 Los Angeles Motor Show.

The German brand said that the GT R Pro takes inspiration from its GT3 and GT4 projects, with equipment added to its top-end model, the GT R.

To distinguish it from the GT R, the Pro comes with further aerodynamic components, such as a redesigned front bumper and additional fins on the rear wing and wheel arches – all finished in carbon fibre as standard.

Carbon fibre components have also been added, such as clear-coated bucket seats. It’s also gifted other lightweight components such as forged alloy wheels and ceramic high-performance brakes.

Mercedes-AMG has fitted improved suspension components that are more wear-resistant and adjustable through the damper and driving mode setup systems, too.

The model is presented in a selenite grey finish with green detailing and striping – but every other body colour is paired to matte grey stripes.

Mercedes has already taken the model around the world-famous Nürburgring, with the GT R Pro setting a time of 7:04.632 – 6.3 seconds faster than the GT R.

However, there are no upgrades in terms of performance, as the GT R Pro has the same power output – 573bhp and 700Nm of torque – and top speed figure – 197mph. The sprint to 60mph also takes the same amount of time – 3.4 seconds.

Mercedes is yet to reveal pricing and the amount of models to be made, but expect it to cost in excess of the £142,945 list price of the GT R.
