Mercedes-Benz reveals new CLA Shooting Brake

Mercedes has unveiled the latest version of the CLA Shooting Brake.

Revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the second iteration of the Shooting Brake is based on the regular CLA that was unveiled last year.

Compared to the previous version, the new CLA has a curvier design as well as an improved boot space – making it a more practical proposition than before.

Sharing the same front-end styling as the A-Class and CLA, the Shooting Brake comes with an angled grille and LED headlights – with Mercedes making most of the changes behind the B-pillar.

The boot has grown by 10 litres over the previous version – now measuring 505 litres – while the opening has been extended by 24cm, making it much easier to load objects in the back.

As with recent Mercedes models, the cabin is fitted with the latest tech – such as the MBUX infotainment system that can be paired to two widescreen displays and can be used in tandem with the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant.

Only one engine has been announced at the Shooting Brake’s launch – the petrol 250, which uses a 222bhp, four-cylinder engine that is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and sends the power to the front wheels.

Prices will be announced closer to the CLA Shooting Brake’s sale date in September, but it is expected to cost around £26,000.
