Mercedes-Maybach displays Ultimate Luxury concept

The concept combines saloon and SUV design cues with an all-electric powertrain and luxury fittings.

Premium brand Mercedes-Maybach has displayed its latest Vision concept, which is a mixture of SUV and saloon styling to create the Ultimate Luxury design.

The Ultimate Luxury was displayed for the first time at the Auto China 2018 show in Beijing, which runs from today until May 4.

The exterior design uses many of the brand’s signature features, such as the large front grille, smooth body lines and sharp LED headlights, and they are used alongside the elaborate 24-inch turbine-look alloy wheels.

With much of the detailing finished in aluminium and chrome, the Ultimate Luxury has a high-end look and it also unique as you get a saloon model with a raised, SUV-like ride height and extension of the bodywork.

Exclusive design details such as the split rear window and three-part lights at the front and rear help make the Ultimate Luxury look even more special.

Mercedes-Maybach say that many of the elements of the interior were modelled on the Maybach S-Class, and it’s clear to see why thanks to the wood trim paired with the rose gold detailing and white leather finish – with the Widescreen Cockpit dual-screen display also being employed for the driver.

The all-electric concept is fitted with four motors to provide variable all-wheel drive and they combine to create 739bhp so the Ultimate Luxury concept can reach a limited top speed of 155mph.

The quoted range of this model is over 200 miles and it can be charged wirelessly via an electromagnetic field.

Gorden Wagener, chief design officer at Daimler AG, said: "The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a totally new archetype of a kind never seen before.

"Our concept combines the DNA of an SUV with that of a saloon to produce an ultra-modern SUV of three-box design. With sensuality and pure sophistication, we have created a timeless vehicle that underscores the position of Mercedes-Maybach as the ultimate luxury brand."
