Mini unveils one-off Hatch to celebrate the 2018 royal wedding

The car, which has been designed to commemorate the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will be donated to charity.

Mini has unveiled a one-off version of its Hatch model to celebrate the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The royal wedding will take place in Windsor on May 19, after which the car will be given to the Children’s HIV Association (CHIVA) in order to be auctioned off to raise money for the charity.

The Mini’s exterior is finished in Crystal White, with silver-blue accent stripes on the body and a black band with a blue-tinted matte silver paint finish wrapping around the car.

There are a number of chrome design features on the outside as well, such as the hexagonal radiator grille frame and the door handles, while the headlights and rear light are topped off with a blue-black tinted clear coat. The metallic wheel rims are also finished in a matte dark blue hue.

The roof paint finish utilises multiple colours, with the graphic on top having been applied by hand in several layers. It brings together elements of both the UK’s Union Jack and the flag of the USA, representing the respective home countries of the royal couple.

The Hatch’s side scuttles around the side turn indicators have been 3D-printed and feature the initials “H” and “M” with a heart and rings. Upon the door being opened, the words “Just Married” are projected on to the ground.

The interior features Satellite Grey leather, while the blue-black chrome elements from the exterior can also be found inside. The large trim strip in front of the passenger seat bears the names of the bride and groom, as well as the date of the wedding and some good wishes to the couple. The headrests have had elements of both the Union Jack and the American flag stitched into them.

Oliver Heilmer, head of Mini Design, commented: “As an iconic British brand with almost 60 years of history in the UK, we are pleased to mark the royal wedding with this special charitable gift.

“The Mini Design team has created a one-off Mini Hatch for the occasion. Its specially designed roof graphic combines with a 3D-printed personalised interior and exterior details, as well as special embroidery, to make this a Mini like no other.”
