The saloon version of the Japanese model will be on sale from next month and will be available in three trim levels.

Honda has revealed pricing and specifications for the latest addition to the Civic line-up – a four-door version.

The saloon model will be available with either a 1.6-litre diesel – capable of achieving 83.1mpg with a manual transmission – or a 1.0-litre turbo petrol that can return 60.1mpg with a CVT gearbox.

The diesel also comes with an automatic option, while the petrol gets a manual transmission too.

Trim levels are the same as those found in the Civic hatchback – SE, SR and EX – with the base level fitted with the Honda Sensing safety features, such as collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition. Automatic and CVT models also get the low speed following function.

SR-specced cars come with rain-sensing auto wipers, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, rear parking camera and Honda Connect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
