New Honda Civic Saloon to go on sale in UK

Following on from the success of the hatchback, Honda is adding more practicality to the Civic range.

Honda has announced that a four-door saloon version of the Civic is set to arrive in the UK, with plans to put it on sale in August.

The saloon model will come with both petrol and diesel engine options, including the 1.0-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel units found in the hatchback models – both of which can be paired with manual and automatic transmissions.

Based on the same platform as the hatchback, the saloon is quoted to come with “class-leading” interior space and features an uncluttered design for simple navigation and usability.

It comes with the same front look as the hatchback, too, but has a longer tail-end for improved storage space and more conserved design features.

Also, rather than being built in the brand’s UK plant in Swindon like the hatchback, the saloon will be built in Turkey.

Phil Webb, head of cars at Honda UK, said: “The Civic is a core model for Honda in Europe and has been at the heart of the brand’s strong sales and manufacturing heritage, with the hatchback built in Swindon.

“The arrival of the saloon to the UK market compliments the Civic family and will be a great addition to our showrooms alongside what is already a very successful range for Honda.”

Prices, specifications and extra details will be revealed closer to the model’s market launch.
