New Peugeot 208 model is the most efficient non-hybrid

The Peugeot 208 supermini has added a new model to its range with an updated 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel that emits just 79g/km of CO2.

Over 90mpg for fuel economy

This new 208 specification also records an official combined fuel economy of 94.2mpg. The Peugeot is therefore the most efficient non-hybrid car sold in Britain.

Available in three and five-door guises, the new ultra-efficient 208 model is available for the Active and Allure trims, where it starts from £14,995 or £16,515 respectively. It produces 74bhp which is good enough for a top speed of 106mph. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard and stop-start technology is also available with this version of the 208.

“Industry class leader”

The Marketing Director at Peugeot UK, Mark Pickles, commented: “We pride ourselves in producing engines that reduce emissions without compromising performance and driver enjoyment, while optimising fuel consumption. The new 208 79g/km is the industry class leader and reinforces the Brand’s commitment in continually pushing the boundaries of technology for both petrol and diesel engines.”

The Peugeot 208 with the 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel can be specified with higher power outputs including 99bhp and 118bhp.
