New Volkswagen Passat GTE now available to order

The models come with an electrified 1.4-litre petrol engine, as well as a series of new features.

Volkswagen has revealed pricing for the recently-revised Passat GTE.

The petrol-hybrid will be available from £36,390 in saloon form, while estate variants start at £37,920 – £1,635 cheaper than the outgoing Passat GTE.

The electrified model is fitted with a 1.4-litre petrol engine that’s paired with an electric motor and a 13kWh battery pack. The powertrain develops 215bhp and 400Nm of torque.

Volkswagen expects the GTE to account for a 25 per cent of Passat sales, and the model is now offered with 17-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, blue brake calipers, distinctive C-shaped LED daytime running lights and a charging point mounted in the grille.

Inside, customers will be greeted by an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Advance upgrade includes a 9.2-inch display as well as 18-inch alloys, Matrix LED headlights and an easy-open boot with keyless entry.

“The previous Passat GTE was incredibly popular in the UK and I’m happy to say that we have increased the mix for the new model to match this strong demand. In fact, we expect 25 per cent of sales for the new Passat will be the GTE.”

Volkswagen also announced that the starting price of the Passat is now £25,370 for the entry-level SE model. All Passat models are available to order now.
