Nissan Qashqai now available with ProPilot driver assistance

First found on the latest Leaf, the ProPilot system controls the steering and speed in single-lane traffic at low or higher speeds.

After making a successful debut on the all-electric Leaf hatchback, Nissan's ProPilot driving assistance system has been introduced to the Qashqai crossover.

Along with the addition of the new feature, Nissan is offering the Qashqai with a limited-run trim level – the Pilot One Edition – that comes with ProPilot as standard as well as unique design features.

The ProPilot driver assistance features fulfils their full potential with the Xtronic automatic gearbox – so the car has full control over steering and speed changes – while manual models come with the Drive Assist Pack, which comes with all the features of ProPilot minus the ability to stop and resume in traffic.

To reduce strain on driving, the ProPilot system takes control of the acceleration, braking and steering, and is built to work in a single lane on highways in congestion and at high-speed cruising.

Ryan Gains, Nissan Europe’s general manager of crossovers, said: “The addition of ProPILOT will underpin and strengthen the Qashqai’s position as Europe’s number one crossover.
