Nissan has lifted the lid on two new concept vehicles.
Unveiled before the Tokyo Motor Show, the Japanese manufacturer has revealed the Paramedic Concept and e-NV200 Fridge Concept.
Based on the NV350 Caravan, the Paramedic Concept is a preview of Nissan’s fifth-generation ambulance, previous versions of which have been exclusive to Japan.
Equipment in the concept ambulance includes Nissan’s Around View Monitor, a lithium-ion battery to power medical equipment in remote areas as well as tech to prevent germs spreading in the vehicle.
Nissan plans to put the real thing on sale in 2018.
Also revealed was the e-NV200 Fridge Concept. Based on Nissan’s all-electric e-NV200 van, the concept is designed to be an eco- and urban-friendly delivery vehicle to be used in places larger lorries cannot access.
As well as plenty of cargo space, the Fridge Concept — as the name may suggest — comes with a refrigeration unit, powered by a separate battery pack from the one propelling the e-NV200’s motor.
Ashwani Gupta, senior vice president of the Renault-Nissan LCV business unit, said: "Our fifth-generation ambulance will offer enhanced features that will make a real difference to people's lives. The new Paramedic Concept contains vital life-saving equipment to respond to emergencies, often in remote areas.
"Meanwhile, the e-NV200 Fridge Concept will create huge value for commercial users – generating more business, as well as reducing the cost of ownership. With zero emissions, it'll be perfect for busy urban environments where larger vehicles are often prohibited."
