Nissan unveils IMx Concept at Tokyo Motor Show 2017

The all-electric crossover concept was revealed at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show

Nissan has unveiled an all-electric crossover concept.

Shown at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the IMx Concept is packed with the Japanese manufacturer’s latest technologies.

Powering the car are two electric motors, capable of delivering 429bhp and 700Nm of torque — as well as 373 miles of range on a single charge.

One of the headline features on the concept is an advanced version of Nissan’s ProPilot — allowing full-autonomous operation which, when selected, retracts the steering wheel into the dashboard and reclines all seats to provide maximum passenger comfort.

Despite this, full manual control is still possible and can seamlessly transfer between the two modes by automatically repositioning the seats and wheel when switched.

It’s even capable of contributing to local power grids by parking itself at a charging point supporting the technology, and returning excess energy.

Daniele Schillaci, executive vice president for global marketing and sales of zero-emission vehicles at Nissan, said: “The IMx zero-emission crossover concept vehicle embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

“Through Nissan Intelligent Mobility, we are committed to changing the way people and cars communicate, as well as how cars interact with society in the near future and beyond."
