After being displayed at the Geneva Motor Show, Audi has opened the order books for its upcoming all-electric SUV, the e-tron.

With the production version arriving in 2019, UK customers are able to put down a £1,000 deposit towards a new e-tron from launch.

People who choose to put money towards one will have their deposit offset against the sales price, but can also remove their interest at any time should they change their mind.

A camouflaged prototype e-tron has been tested by Audi and prospective customers at the Geneva Motor Show where it made its public debut.

Although official figures are yet to be confirmed, Audi says that the all-electric SUV will have a range of more than 310 miles on a full charge, and can be charged to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes when connected to a fast-charging service.

Fitted with three electric motors and all-wheel drive, the e-tron can have up to 496bhp and 800Nm of torque at its disposal if its concept figures are translated into production. That could mean a 0-60mph time of just 4.4 seconds.

Between now and the start of production, Audi will deploy 250 prototypes across Europe to cover more than three million miles for testing.

By placing the deposit, customers can join the Priority Order Members Club – which allows them to order the “First Edition” models – and also get the chance to attend exclusive Audi events.
