Pagani Huayra Roadster boasts 753bhp and £2m price tag

A convertible version of the ultra-fast Pagani Huayra supercar has been revealed, called the Huayra Roadster. It will make its first public appearance at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Set to cost around £2 million, the Huayra Roadster arrives six years after the original coupe version of the supercar made its public debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Carbo-titanium used for body

While cars are often heavier in their convertible bodystyle compared to their hardtop counterpart, the Huayra Roadster is actually lighter than the coupe version by 80kg, weighing just 1,280kg in total.

This weight loss has been achieved through the use of a material known as Carbo-Triax HP52. This is a carbon-titanium composite which not only lightens the car but is also said to be 52 per cent stiffer, benefitting handling further.

Like the Huayra coupe, the new roadster version uses a AMG-developed V12 petrol engine with two turbochargers. It delivers 753bhp and over 1,000Nm of torque. Power is sent through a seven-speed sequential gearbox. Performance figures are unconfirmed but the 0-62mph sprint time is rumoured to be below three seconds.

Highlights of the Huayra Roadster’s design include of course the removable roof, of which there are two to choose. Customers can get either a removable carbon-fibre hardtop panel, which gives the car a coupe-look while its attached. Alternatively, there’s a fabric and carbon cover for those who prefer a more traditional soft-top roadster appearance.

Even though the 2017 Geneva Motor Show marks the Huayra Roadster’s first public appearance, all 100 examples planned during the supercar’s production have already been sold. Pagani says each Roadster is priced from €2,280,000 before tax.
