Peugeot 308 facelift revealed early

Pictures have been leaked online of a facelifted version of the Peugeot 308 hatchback. The updated family car is expected to make its official public debut later this year.

The online pictures, which were originally posted on a Peugeot-related forum, show that the Focus and Golf-rivalling hatchback has had some styling changes, particularly at the front. Differences include a restyled grille which is similar to some of the more recent Peugeots launched like the latest 3008.

Other changes include the front badge being moved from the tip of the bonnet to the centre of the grille, a redesigned front bumper, larger air intakes and redesigned headlamps and taillights.

While hardly any details about the interior have been confirmed, the single leaked image of it indicates the dashboard and centre console layout remains the same for the facelifted 308. The Peugeot still has its minimalist cabin which has been one of the car’s most appealing aspects.

However, while other recent Peugeots have begun using the brand’s second-generation i-Cockpit layout, which relies heavily on touchscreen technology, the facelifted 308 appears to retain its analogue dials.

It’s likely that the engine range will remain largely unchanged for the facelifted 308, meaning units like its ultra-frugal 1.6-litre e-HDi diesel will remain. Expect more details on the facelifted 308 to arrive during the second half of this year, with the launch of the family car taking place between late 2017 and early 2018.
