Peugeot 308 GTi to star at Goodwood

Peugeot is gearing up to reveal its latest and most powerful hot hatch to date – the 308 GTi - at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Alongside the new 308 GTi will be the French carmakers Vision GT concept car, as well as Gran Turismo 6 pods for gaming enthusiasts to hone their skills.

The new 308 GTi will no doubt be one of Peugeot’s main attractions. Offering wider front and rear tracks to the standard 308 model, as well as a lowered ride height of 11mm, the new 308 GTi features new door sills, two front spoilers and a unique black radiator grille.

Under the bonnet there is a choice of two 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engines. The first model in the line-up is the GTi 250, which offers a power output of 247bhp and a zero to 62mph sprint time of just 6.2 seconds. The meatier option in the range is the GTi 270 model, producing 266bhp and offering a slightly quicker sprint time of just six seconds. Both the GTi 250 and GTi 270 can hit a limited top speed of 155mph.

For added track gusto, the GTi 270 version comes with 380mm carbon brake discs and a Torsen limited slip differential for added traction in the corners.

There is also a red Sport button available, which sharpens up the cars throttle response, makes the exhaust louder and turns the dashboard from white to red – adding to its menacing hot hatch personality.

Prices for the new Peugeot 308 GTi start from £26,555 for the GTi 250 model and £28,155 for the GTi 270.
