Peugeot Traveller MPV can seat up to nine

Peugeot has revealed a new van-based family MPV called the Traveller. It will go on public display next month during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Replacing the van-based Expert MPV, the Peugeot Traveller goes on sale later this year and will be sold alongside the Citroen SpaceTourer, a sibling based on the same platform.

Lengths and seating options

The Traveller will be sold in three different lengths. There’s the XS which measures 4.6 metres long, the M which is 4.95m long and the XL which is 5.3m long.

Depending on the length chosen, the Traveller contains either five, seven, eight or nine seats. With the back seats removed, the Traveller’s boot space can measure all the way up to 4,900 litres - more than ten times the standard boot capacity you get from a Nissan Qashqai.

Engines and kit

Engines for the Peugeot Traveller include two 1.6-litre diesels, which deliver 94bhp and 113bhp and officially average 51.3mpg and 55.3mpg respectively.

The 94bhp diesel is available with stop-start engine technology which improves the average fuel economy to 54.3mpg. CO2 outputs for the 94bhp diesel range between 133g/km and 144g/km.

For those that want extra grunt, the Traveller range also includes a couple of 2.0-litre diesels with outputs of 148bhp or 178bhp. These average 53.2mpg and 139g/km and 48.7mpg and 151g/km respectively.

From launch there will be four trim levels for the Peugeot Traveller – Active, Allure, Business and Business Plus. Features available for the Traveller include hands-free electric side doors and a seven-inch tablet-like touchscreen.

There’s a vast array of safety kit onboard the Traveller, including Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Alert, Road Sign Reading and Automatic Main Beam Switching.
