Prices and specs announced for new 2020 Renault Captur

The new model boasts a new look, new driver assistance tech and electrified technology

Renault has announced the prices and specs for its second-generation Captur – a model that replaces the most popular crossover in its segment.

It follows the route paved by the new Renault Clio – sitting on the same CMF-B platform, which allows for improved spaciousness, along with electrified powertrains. A plug-in hybrid is set to go on sale later in 2020 with an electric range of 28 miles.

Alongside a new turbocharged 89bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine, Renault also offers a turbocharged 1.3-litre petrol unit available with either 128bhp or 153bhp. An efficient 1.5-litre diesel unit is also sold with outputs of either 94bhp or 113bhp.

The new Captur retains its affordable pricing, with the model available from £17,595 for the entry-level Play version. This features LED headlights, keyless entry, a seven-inch touchscreen and a number of safety assists, including autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition.

The mid-spec Iconic (costing from £19,095) adds satellite navigation, rear parking sensors, 17-inch alloy wheels and two-tone paint. Meanwhile the top-spec S Edition (available from £20,595) adds an impressive 9.3-inch touchscreen, as well as a digital instrument cluster, ambient interior lighting and a reversing camera.

Order books for the latest Captur are now open, with the first customer cars arriving in March 2020 in time for the new ‘20’ registration.
