Refreshed Peugeot 208 details announced

New details have been released on the refreshed Peugeot 208 range, which launches this June. Updates for the supermini include more efficient engines, extra equipment and a unique ‘texture paint’ finish.

The subtle facelift for the Peugeot 208 sees the supermini receive a redesigned front bumper, a wider front grille and new two-tone headlights with an LED light signature.

More recently, Peugeot has revealed that the updated 208 will be the first production vehicle available with textured paint for the exterior. This finish is currently available in two colours - Ice Grey and Ice Silver.

Peugeot says that the new textured paint features fine particles contained within it. On the 208, this paint job is said to have the appearance of a matt paint job but is comparatively more hard-wearing and easier to care for. The textured paint also has a subtle granular feel when touched. This new exterior finish will be available to customers as a £645 option.

Buyers of the refreshed 208 will also be able to change both the exterior and interior of the supermini with two new optional personalisation packs. They are available on the Allure trim level and above and include the Menthol White pack and Lime Yellow pack.

Each engine in the 208 range has been updated and now every model, except the entry-level spec, has stop-start technology as standard.

A new 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel, linked to a five-speed manual gearbox, also joins the range, available with three power outputs ranging from 74bhp to 118bhp. This unit officially records up to 94.1mpg and emits just 94g/km of CO2.

Pricing details for the updated Peugeot 208 line-up will be announced closer to the car’s launch time.
