Renault announces new online reservation tool

The French manufacturer has been increasing its online presence in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak

Renault has announced a new online tool that allows customers to reserve cars and vans through its website.

Those looking to buy a particular model can select their chosen car or van, after which various options of the best-selling trims and colours become available. You can then click to reserve a vehicle through the website, and will then be contacted by your chosen dealer that will handle the process through to delivery or collection.

The firm says it has a wide selection of models available that are usually ready for delivery within a couple of weeks, though it’s not known how this is impacted by current dealership closures due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, the government has confirmed that dealers can sell and deliver cars online.

Renault says that the platform is “providing the reassurance that you can still get the new car you want without a long wait”.

The new tool follows the recent announcement of Renault’s new ‘Virtual Showroom’, which is where dedicated specialists can give you a walkaround tour of selected Renault models – including the Clio supermini, Captur crossover, Zoe EV and larger Kadjar SUV. It essentially gives you the showroom experience from home.

Renault’s sister brand Dacia also has a dedicated online portal that allows you to completely purchase a new car from home and online. It was already up and running before the coronavirus lockdown, though the budget brand recently announced that it was scrapping its usual £250 delivery fee during these challenging times.
