Renault has revealed that its all-new Kadjar crossover will be priced from £17,995 when it becomes available to order this July, with deliveries following in September.
Sitting above the compact Captur in Renault’s crossover range, the Kadjar shares key components including engines with the popular Nissan Qashqai. Intriguingly though, the Renault significantly undercuts the Qashqai’s starting price of £18,545. The Kadjar’s rivals include the Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage and Hyundai ix35.
From launch, the Kadjar will be offered in four trim levels and with three engines. The trim levels start with Expression+ and it’s followed by Dynamique Nav, priced from £19,695, Dynamique S Nav (from £20,495) and Signature Nav (from £21,695).
A single petrol engine is included - a turbocharged 1.2-litre TCe with 128bhp. Accompanying this is a 1.5-litre dCi diesel with 109bhp and a 1.6-litre dCi diesel with 128bhp. All engines are available for each trim level, except for the 128bhp diesel which is exempt from Expression+.
A six-speed manual gearbox is standard but the 109bhp diesel is available with a dual-clutch automatic instead. Most models in the Kadjar range use front-wheel drive but four-wheel drive is optional when picking the 128bhp diesel. Pricing for four-wheel drive Kadjars begins at £24,295.
The most efficient models in the Kadjar line-up are those in the Expression+ and Dynamique Nav trim using the 109bhp diesel. With either the manual or automatic gearbox, these record a combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg and emit just 99g/km in CO2. All models bar the petrol-run Dynamique S and Signature Nav Kadjar officially average above 50mpg.
Standard equipment for the Renault Kadjar includes LED daytime running lights, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, electric windows and a DAB radio. Numerous luxury equipment packs will be available for the Kadjar from launch starting from £400. These include a Climate Pack, a Parking Pack and Leather Pack.
