Renault offers new powertrain with Captur

The small crossover has a new engine-transmission combination that helps with economy and is as efficient as the manual option

Renault is now giving customers the option of using the dCi 90, 1.5-litre diesel engine with a six-speed EDC automatic transmission.

The manufacturer claims that this new powertrain option will offer the same fuel economy and response as its manual counterpart. Renault claims the fuel economy of this new version is as high as 72.4mpg and has emissions as low as 101g/km CO2.

Performance for this new powertrain is as you would expect from an 89bhp engine, with the 0-60mph time set at 13.6 seconds and a top speed of 107mph, with 220Nm of torque also produced.

This new power option is available on the top four trim levels – Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav, Signature Nav and Signature S Nav – with pricing for the first dCi 90 automatic model starting from £20,125 for the Dynamique Nav version.

The latest Captur was released in May this year, and Renault has fitted some premium features to the Dynamique Nav. These include automatic climate control, an infotainment system paired to a seven-inch touchscreen display, cruise control, LED daytime running lights and fog lights.
