Renault scrappage scheme: how you can save up to £3,000 on a new car

Looking to upgrade from your old banger? You could save £3,000 on a new Renault.

As cars get more efficient and environmentally kinder, old bangers out on the road begin to look desperately outdated and in need of upgrading.

Fortunately, many manufacturers offer scrappage incentives to get drivers out of old vehicles and into a shiny new one. Looking to get behind the wheel of a new Renault? Here is how you could save up to £3,000…

What car do I need to be able to swap?

The vehicle being traded in must have been registered to the customer for at least 90 days prior to the order date of a new car. It applies to cars ordered from now until February 29 and must be registered before June 30 (April 30 for the Zoe) this year.

Which cars are available on the scheme?

Renault is offering pretty much every car it makes on this generous scheme, including the Kadjar, Zoe, Captur, Clio, Megane, Grand Scenic and Koleos. That covers the Megane R.S. too, so enthusiasts don’t have to feel left out.

Kadjar — £3,000

Looking for a practical and stylish SUV? The Kadjar ticks those boxes perfectly. It was treated to a mid-life refresh last year, bringing to the model new, more efficient engines as well as tweaks to its design.

Pricing for the model normally starts at £21,095, meaning you could secure your very own example for as little as £18,095. That means you can have SUV looks and practicality for the price of a mid-spec supermini.

New Zoe — £3,000

If you’re planning to ride the wave that is the electric revolution, a Renault Zoe is a tantalising prospect. Packing an 80kW motor in its most potent guise, the Zoe is said to be capable of 245 miles of driving between charges — with the firm providing free installation of a 7kW wallbox for home charging.

Entry-level examples of the Zoe start at £25,670 normally, meaning a £22,670 asking price after trading in your old car.

Captur — £2,000

A new Captur has arrived, but the previous generation example still offers impressive value for money. Refreshed early in 2019 with subtly-updated looks, it still looks as good as much newer rivals.

Prices usually start at £15,730 for the Captur, but that drops to a remarkably low £13,730 with the scrappage allowance applied.

All-new Captur — £1,000

A £1,000 scrappage allowance means you could get behind the wheel of an all-new Captur £16,595.

Clio — £1,000

Renault has innovated its popular Clio, with the supermini taking on an evolutionary design and a revolutionary interior. Excellent driving dynamics continue to be a staple, while impressive tech is available in abundance too.

Renault’s Grand Scenic proves practicality doesn’t have to come at the cost of style, with this seven-seater oozing class. Its boot is huge too, while excellent equipment like its R-Link 2 infotainment system puts it at the forefront of its class.

With a £1,000 scrappage allowance, a Grand Scenic can be yours from £23,195.

Megane — £1,000

A Megane can be had from £17,295 if you trade in an eligible car.

Koleos — £1,000
