Skoda Marketplace launches to give drivers in-car alerts to discounts at nearby shops

The new connected feature aims to help drivers get the best deals

Skoda is trialling a new ‘Marketplace’ feature that gives drivers in-car alerts to discounts at nearby petrol stations and shops.

Launching initially in Skoda’s home of the Czech Republic, the firm is partnering with various companies to offer its drivers the best local offers and discounts.

Working with the satellite navigation, drivers will be notified through the infotainment system when any local promotions are detected.

If a driver chooses to accept the offer, the navigation system can direct drivers to the location, while a code will be emailed to your smartphone that activates a discount at the checkout. Drivers will need to activate the Skoda Connect app and register for the Marketplace feature to take advantage of the new connected service.

It is already live in the Czech Republic, though it’s only currently working with petrol stations. However, Skoda says that as Marketplace expands, supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and car washes will be added to the feature.

To enable the service, Skodas must have the brand’s latest infotainment system, which is fitted to Scala, Superb, Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq models.

The firm hopes the technology will soon be rolled out across the full Skoda range, while also introducing it to other markets.
