Sporty GTS variant joins Porsche Macan SUV range

The new model slots in-between the Macan S and Macan Turbo

Porsche has unveiled a further sporty variant of its popular Macan SUV – the GTS.

Designed to appeal those looking for the most involving Macan to drive, the GTS utilises a 375bhp version of a 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine that’s also used in the other variants of this SUV – the ‘S’ and the Turbo. It produces 20bhp more than the previous GTS, which helps to cut the 0-60mph time down to 4.5 seconds, while hitting a claimed top speed of 162mph.

While not having the outright power of the Turbo, Porsche pitches this as a more performance-oriented version thanks to its tuned chassis. A revised PDK automatic transmission also features, as does a standard sports exhaust.

Chassis tweaks include lowering it by 10mm, while it can lose a further 15mm if the optional air suspension is chosen. Twenty-inch alloy wheels also feature, while large cast iron brakes promise to offer powerful stopping power, though upgraded brakes can also be selected as well.

The GTS also comes with a revised bodykit with a black styling pack featuring, along with darkened LED lights. Other details include black exhaust pipes, red brake callipers and satin black 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the GTS also features an Alcantara interior, as well as a sports steering wheel and sports seats with more pronounced side bolsters. Buyers can also choose leather upholstery in Carmine Red or Crayon Grey, too.

The Macan GTS is on sale now, with prices starting from £58,816, which is £9,000 more expensive than the ‘S’ and £9,000 more affordable than the Turbo.
