SsangYong announces prices and specs for all-new Korando

The all-new Korando is set to elevate the SsangYong brand further.

SsangYong has announced the full pricing and specs for its all-new mid-size Korando SUV model, which rivals models such as the Kia Sportage and Nissan Qashqai.

The stylish Korando has been enhanced with much-improved technology and spaciousness, while retaining the South Korean manufacturer’s class-leading seven-year, 150,000-mile warranty.

From launch, the Korando is available with a 134bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine, which will be joined in December by a punchier 1.5-litre petrol engine, which will develop 161bhp.

Prices start from £19,995 for the Korando, which makes it one of the most affordable models available in its class. Buyers are able to choose between four trim levels – ELX, Ventura, Pioneer and Ultimate, though with ELX and Ventura being petrol-only models, they are not available in the meantime.

The entry-level ELX comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, automatic lights and wipers and a host of safety kit, which includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist and a driver attention alert system.

Upgrading to the Ventura (costing from £22,995) adds half-leather seats, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors and heated front seats. It also adds more tech in the form of an eight-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster.

Up next is what’s likely to be one of the most popular versions – the Pioneer. This trim level is aimed at what’s traditionally been the Korando’s core market – caravanners and those who want to tow. It’s more expensive as it’s only offered with diesel engines, with the Pioneer starting from £26,495.

Sitting at the top of the range is the appropriately-named Ultimate, which adds a larger nine-inch touchscreen, leather seats and dual-zone climate control, to name but a few features.

The new Korando is on sale now.
