SsangYong Korando receives five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP

SsangYong Korando receives five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP

The firm’s new mid-size SUV is now even more appealing.

SsangYong’s all-new Korando has been announced as one of the latest new cars to be awarded the full five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

The all-new Korando has only just gone on sale, and was expected to perform well during Euro NCAP testing, but a five-star rating has now been confirmed after the safety body’s testing.

High praise was awarded for the Korando’s excellent standard safety equipment, which includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and traffic sign recognition to name but a few features. This standard kit allowed the Korando to be awarded a 74 per cent rating in the safety assist category.

Elsewhere, the Korando scored highly in the adult occupant protection category (88 per cent) along with the child occupancy (85 per cent) and vulnerable road users categories (68 per cent).

With SsangYong aiming to take this all-new Korando further into the mainstream market, this rating brings the model into line with best-selling crossovers such as the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage.

This is only the third time a SsangYong has been tested by Euro NCAP, with the previous two models to be tested in 2016 – the Tivoli and Tivoli XLV – both scoring four stars.
