Subaru looks to the future with Impreza Sedan Concept

Subaru has unveiled its new Impreza Sedan Concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which hints at the direction the Japanese marque will take the next generation of its vehicles.

Designed as an entry-level model in the Subaru line-up, the concept Impreza looks nonetheless impressive, with a sleek and bold appearance coupled with dramatic Ruby Red Metallic paint.

Wider, lower to the ground and distinctly sportier than the current version of the Impreza, the concept sports a hexagonal grille, incorporated aero vents and aggressive hawk-eye headlights.

Subaru’s designers have put the boxy profile of past Imprezas to bed as well, giving the car a coupe-style roofline, with a small lip on the boot lid to act as a spoiler.

The dynamic front end gives way to bold character lines on the sides and the rear shoulders, while Subaru says that the flared wheel arches have been designed to emphasise the car’s all-wheel drive.

In the future, Subaru has stated that every car that it makes will be based off a single platform, with the Impreza, Outback, Forester and even the biggest crossovers built on the same bones.

An incredibly efficient method of engineering, shared platforms have swept through the auto industry since Volkswagen introduced its MQB system back in 2012.

As a result, the Impreza Sedan Concept isn’t just a sneak preview of what the next Impreza could look like, but it’s also a look at what the entire marque’s output could look like in the future.
