T5 petrol added to Volvo 90 series models

The S90, V90 and XC90 are all now available with the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 247bhp and is paired to an eight-speed automatic

Volvo has added the T5 turbocharged petrol engine to the 90 Series models, with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Available on the S90 saloon, V90 and V90 Cross Country estates, and XC90 SUV, the T5 Drive-E unit is introduced with performance and efficiency in mind.

The T5 produces 247bhp and 350Nm of torque, and is built from lightweight materials for good efficiency, as well as using a variable valve system to improve driveability.

For the S90, it is available on all but the Momentum and Momentum Pro trims, and the T5 can return 42.8mpg and 154g/km CO2, while being able to go from 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 140mph. Prices for the S90 version start from £41,120.

For the V90, the T5 can return 41.5mpg and 157g/km CO2, while the Cross Country model can offer 38.2mpg and 172g/km CO2. For the V90 T5, Volvo offers it for £43,120 and Cross Country options start from £44,685.

When fitted to the XC90, the T5 is paired to an all-wheel drive system in every trim and can offer 35.8mpg and 184g/km CO2. The XC90 has a starting price of £50,435.
