Tesla has recently gained the record for the first production car to exceed 1,000km on a single charge, after an Italian Tesla owner set a new record distance.

Using the Model S 100D, a Tesla driver achieved a staggering 670-mile range on one charge providing the technological manufacturer with the crown for charging efficiency.

Posting a photograph of the vehicles display on Twitter, @TeslaOwnersIT revealed the cars new accolade – a 1,078km range (669.83 miles) using only 98.4 kWh of energy.

Soon after, Telsa CEO Elon Musk responded to the tweet congratulating the drivers on their achievement.

However; it should be noted that the record was set in very particular conditions using a very specific technique called hypermiling – a technique that allows EV drivers to enhance the efficiency of their car.

According to Interesting Engineering, the car would have to be driven 23mph for 29 hours straight to gain this result. But regardless of the method, this still comes as big news for EV drivers and highlights the sort of efficiency we could see in the foreseeable future.
