The all-new 2017 Ford Fiesta will be unveiled tomorrow

After months of rumours and spy photos of mules in testing, Ford will finally unveil the all-new 2017 Fiesta at an event in Germany on November 29th.

Ford CEO Mark Fields and Ford of Europe president Jim Farley will show off the new supermini at the ‘Go Further’ event in Cologne, along with new fuel-saving technologies and commercial vehicles.

In terms of dimensions, the new Fiesta will be a similar size to the current seventh-generation model, but is expected to have slightly more room for passengers on the inside.

Styling will also take the evolutionary route rather than the revolutionary with the car due to retain its familiar front grille, but it will inherit the same taillight design that currently features on the Focus.

Earlier this year, Ford announced that it would axe the lower trim options on the Fiesta given that the vast majority of buyers tend to start from the Zetec trim upwards.

Therefore, it’s likely that the new Fiesta will start from Zetec, with buyers in the market for a budget hatchback now able to buy the new KA+ instead, and a range-topping Vignale model is also in the works.

There’s no word on engines yet, but you can expect to see a range of three and four-cylinder motors, with heavier focus on the critically-acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo engines.

Naturally, there will be an ST performance model developed alongside the regular Fiesta and spy shots of the next-gen ST have already been snapped, but it’s likely to be unveiled at a later date.

There’s bad news for Americans though, as Ford is expected to announce that it will pull the Fiesta – along with the ST hot hatch – from the US market due to falling interest from buyers.
