Kia has unveiled the Proceed Concept — previewing a new shooting brake like body style for the brand.
Described as an ‘extended hot hatch’, the Proceed Concept delves into what could be a new model within the Cee’d range.
Styling wise, it’s definitely a Kia, especially at the front, which resembles the current Optima saloon. There are also some impressive styling cues from the very pretty upcoming Stinger GT.
The good looks are thanks to a lack of B-pillars and a swooping tail that drops elegantly at the back – a bit like a Mercedes CLS estate. The six-spoke 20-inch alloys and GT logos also add a sporty touch.
The concept represents a huge change from the current range of Cee’d cars, which are based on Kia’s family hatchback.
The current Pro Cee’d is a hot hatch that’s very different to the concept, in terms of its traditional hatchback dimensions, and was added to the line-up in 2013.
The Proceed Concept has a Lava Red paint finish, created using
layers of black and chrome-effect silver paint, with a red-tinted lacquer.
Gregory Guillaume, chief designer for Kia Motors in Europe, said: “With many
European drivers now seeking performance alternatives to the three-door hot
hatch, we began thinking about a different halo model for the Cee’d family.
“The Proceed Concept represents a bold new vision of how the vibrant soul of the Pro_cee’d could be reincarnated and revitalised for a new generation of
performance-oriented drivers.”
The Kia Proceed Concept will be unveiled to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 12.
