The Subaru BRZ is back, with subtle tweaks and new equipment

The Subaru BRZ coupe has been given a mild nip and tuck for 2017, with updates to the engine and suspension, plus new equipment.

You might be hard pushed to spot the differences immediately, but the updated version gets a wider front bumper to improve aerodynamic efficiency, plus full LED headlights.

The rear taillights have also been given a redesign, while the BRZ now sports a new rear spoiler along with new ten-spoke aluminium alloy wheels.

Subaru says that the car is now much more responsive on its feet too, courtesy of new dampers which reduce body roll, increase cornering precision but also improve the ride quality.

There’s also a new selectable ‘TRACK’ mode which loosens up the traction control slightly and also improves throttle responsiveness, along with a reworked Hill Start Assist system.

The trademark boxer engine remains, albeit with improvements to the strength of the cylinder blocks, while Subaru has also tweaked components like the camshaft and rocker arms to increase efficiency.

On the inside, the car now features a 4.2-inch information display nestled in the instrument panel, which displays readouts of braking forces, steering angle and how many G’s the car pulls in the corners.

The steering wheel has also been redesigned to be more compact, while the cabin materials have also been stepped up with increased use of Alcantara and leather.

Pricing for the updated BRZ has yet to be unveiled, but Subaru says that it’ll be available to buy in the UK from spring 2017.
