The tuning company Brabus has revealed a new model based on the S63 AMG cabriolet. It’s called the Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio and its makers claim it’s the most powerful and quickest four-seater cabriolet in the world.
Brabus has a long history of transforming Mercedes cars into more menacing-looking and potent vehicles. The 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio though may well be the most extreme and impressive looking creation from Brabus yet.

The regular Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet in its S63 AMG specification already offers 577bhp from a 5.5-litre biturbo V8 engine. This gives the luxury convertible car a 0-62mph sprint time of just 4.2 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 155mph.
Brabus have bored out the block from 5.5 to 6.0-litre, allowing the company to fit all kinds of upgrades including new pistons, a new crankshaft and turbochargers. As a result, the total power output has increased to a staggering 838bhp.
The Brabus also swaps rear-wheel drive for four-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission is also utilised. The 0-62mph sprint time is cut to just 3.5 seconds and the new top speed is 217mph.
Technically the car could go faster but Brabus has actually kept a limiter on the top speed because of “tyre limitations”. Even so, these performance figures beat any other current production car around which has a cabriolet-style folding roof.

Other changes to this S-Class by Brabus include a wider front grille with integrated front splitter and 21-inch black and red alloy wheels.
Changes to the interior are subtler but Brabus will allow customers to add features like illuminated Brabus door sills and carbon fibre dashboard trim if they desire.
While a ‘regular’ Mercedes S63 AMG Cabriolet costs £134,000, expect this Brabus-tuned version to cost between £150,000 and £200,000 when it goes on sale later this year.
