Toyota reveals new Corolla Touring Sports

Replacing the Auris from next year, the Corolla Touring Sports is the estate version and comes with a new hybrid setup.

Following on from the reveal of the hatchback version earlier this year, Toyota has unveiled the Corolla Touring Sports which debuts a new hybrid electric powertrain.

Replacing the Auris range, the Corolla makes a return to the UK car market from 2019 after being dropped for the Auris back in 2007.

Designed and created for Europe, the new Corolla Touring Sports comes with a new 2.0-litre petrol hybrid powertrain that produces 178bhp. It joins a 1.8-litre 120bhp petrol hybrid and the only conventional engine on offer, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine making 114bhp.

The model also comes with new multilink rear suspension as well as shock absorber valve technology and, for the first time on a Corolla, adaptive variable suspension is on offer.

Toyota has also revealed that the Corolla Touring Sports will be available with a world-first 3D driver’s meter, a head-up display, a JBL sound system, wireless mobile phone charging and Toyota’s Touch multimedia setup.

The Japanese brand also said that the Touring Sports was built on its own separate platform to the Corolla hatchback so that it could achieve class-leading legroom and offer impressive interior space – with 598 litres of boot space on offer.

The Corolla Touring Sports will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 2 and it will appear alongside the hatchback version. Both models will go on sale in Europe next year.
