Updated 2020 MG ZS unveiled with new tech and upgraded quality

The revised crossover benefits from upgrades seen on the new MG HS SUV

MG has updated its popular ZS crossover, which gains new technology and bolder looks.

The ZS has been on sale since the end of 2017, but has now been revised to keep apace with rivals – the ZS being MG’s most popular car yet.

Facelifted looks are introduced with a new grille, while LED headlights are fitted to all versions. Meanwhile at the rear, it comes with redesigned lights and a new bumper. New 17-inch alloy wheels are also available, along with a new Battersea Blue colour option.

Perhaps the biggest change, though, is in the interior, which sees lots of technology being introduced, while MG says there has been an “uplift in quality”. Most noticeable is the new 10.1-inch touchscreen – as seen on the HS – which is bigger than the eight-inch unit found on the outgoing car. A new instrument cluster is also available on top-spec versions. There are more soft-touch materials than before too, while new piano black buttons give the cabin a more modern look.

The ZS’s naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine remains the same as before and continues to be the only engine option (an EV is available as a separate model), and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. An automatic transmission is likely to be available in due course. The ZS also continues to come with a long seven-year, 80,000-mile warranty.

Prices for the updated ZS start from £15,495 for an entry-level Excite model, which comes with automatic LED headlights, the 10.1-inch touchscreen and reversing camera. Upgrade to the top-spec Exclusive version, which is priced from £17,795 to add satellite navigation, a reversing camera and leather upholstery.

The updated MG ZS is available to order now, with first deliveries expected later this year.
