Though MG’s new MG5 EV might have only reached UK showrooms last year, the firm has already pulled the wraps off an updated model, which is said to “raise the bar even further in terms of design and appeal”.
Revealed alongside its new Marvel R Electric electric SUV - which is yet to be confirmed for the UK - the MG5 will benefit from a larger battery (though it’s yet to be disclosed what size), which sees the range increase from 214 miles to 249 miles on a single charge. MG also says it is equipped for DC rapid charging, which takes 30 minutes to charge to 80 per cent.
It’s set to also get a boost in power, too – increasing from 154bhp to 181bhp. That means it can now reach 0-60mph in 8.1 seconds.
The electric estate car will keep its 578-litre boot, while it will also be equipped with MG Pilot – a driver assistance pack including adaptive cruise control.
Though the same estate car profile remains, MG has given it a more modern look, with more striking LED headlights and a more angular bumper.

MG hasn’t announced full UK details, but has said the model is expected to launch in Europe in October.
