Updated SEAT Alhambra launches in May

Details of the refreshed SEAT Alhambra MPV range have been revealed. Changes include new and more efficient engines and gadgets aimed to improve comfort and safety.

The updated Alhambra also receives some minor design alterations. For the exterior these include new LED rear lights, new wheel designs and a modified front grille incorporating the latest SEAT logo. Inside, meanwhile, the Alhambra receives new trim colours and the steering wheel has now been swapped for the same one used in the SEAT Leon.

SEAT has also completely revamped the Alhambra’s engine line-up. The MPV is still available with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel, but now instead of offering outputs of 138bhp and 175bhp it can deliver 148bhp or 182bhp.

The diesel engine is now not only more powerful but also reportedly 15 per cent more efficient compared to prior the car’s updates. The Alhambra with the updated diesel unit can return up to 57.6mpg combined with CO2 emissions from 130g/km. This marks improvements of 7.2mpg more and 16g/km less compared to the pre-updated Alhambra in its most frugal form.

Also joining the refreshed Alhambra range is a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 148bhp. All of the updated Alhambra’s powertrains fulfil the latest and stringent Euro 6 emissions standard. All engines can also be hooked up to a DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox instead of the standard manual transmission.

Equipment updates for the Alhambra include SEAT’s latest Easy Connect infotainment system with a high-resolution touch-screen. Also now standard is a multi-collision brake system, which initiates automatic braking to avoid a secondary collision in case the driver can’t intervene following an accident.

Also now available is a blind-spot sensor and Dynamic Chassis Control. The latter feature regulates the damper valves in the Alhambra to adapt the car better to the current driving situation, benefiting both handling and comfort.

The refreshed SEAT Alhambra will be available to order in Britain at the end of this May, with deliveries following at some point during this summer.
