Updated Subaru Forester on sale in April

Subaru is releasing a revised version of its Forester SUV this April. It features changes to the ride quality, refinement and design.

The updated Subaru Forester’s pricing ranges between £25,495 and £30,995.

Design updates

Changes to the exterior of the 2016 Forester include a new front grille, new L-shaped chrome trim on the front bumper, black detailed headlamps and new LED taillights. Customers can now add optional adaptive LED headlights, which can rotate left or right into corners as the driver turns the wheel.

Interior changes for the Subaru include new piano black and silver metallic trim to give the car a more sophisticated feel within. The Forester’s TFT displays which show the current speed and other information are now also in a higher resolution, making them clearer to read.

Refinement, handling and engines

A more major change to the Forester’s interior is the improvements made to the Forester’s refinement. Subaru has added extra soundproofing to dampen engine noise and installed thicker windows to reduce wind noise while driving.

Subaru has also worked to improve the Forester’s ride and handling by adjusting the suspension setting to make it cope better with poor-quality surfaces. The SUV’s steering ratio has also been update to deliver quicker responses to driver input on the road.

The Forester’s engine line-up is unchanged, meaning it continues to offer three 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines, including a 148bhp petrol unit, a 145bhp turbodiesel and a 238bhp turbocharged petrol unit. The latter engine exclusively uses a CVT automatic gearbox, while the other units are available with it too but use a six-speed manual ‘box as standard.
