Looking for a high-performance Italian SUV? Well, another is coming to the market later this year — the Maserati Levante Trofeo.
It’s the first time a V8 will be used in the SUV, which was introduced to Maserati’s range last year. The 3.8-litre unit develops 582bhp and 730Nm of torque — making it capable of taking the car from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of “over 187mph”.
The engine, which will be built by Ferrari in Maranello, has been engineered specifically to be paired with Maserati’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system.
To match this newfound performance, the Levante has also received a visual overhaul. The front fascia of the car has received some tweaks, including the addition of more aggressive side air intakes, while the rear of the car receives carbon-fibre additions to create a muscular aesthetic.
The Trofeo also includes full Matrix LED headlights as standard, along with 22-inch forged aluminium wheels — the largest ever fitted to a Maserati.
Inside the car, leather sport seats can be had in black, red or tan — all with contrast stitching and a ‘Trofeo’ logo stitched into the headrests. Matte carbon fibre trim is also present, along with model-specific floor mats and paddle shifters. The package is completed by a Bowers & Wilkins 17-speaker audio system.
Production of the Maserati Levante Trofeo will begin in the summer in Turin, although UK pricing has yet to be revealed.
